in 1951. It was there he met Averil who became his wife. (They had a son and daughter.) He then took a postgraduate diploma in chemical engineering
at the University of London
(1952), and a PhD at the same place in 1955.
His career was at University College London
, and he is particularly known for his textbook "Crystallization" first published in 1951. He was working on the fifth edition when he died on 11 March 2009.
