Josef Kořenský was a Czech traveller and writer.

, this had helped him to obtain education. Since 1867 he worker as a teacher, later as school director. His passion was to travel: into all countries of Europe, into Siberia and during 1893-94 around the world. He published number of scientific articles, journal stories, collected ethnographic material and native art. Kořenský wrote several travel books; his large work Světem a přírodou (1918) was the first of its kind written in modern Czech language.
