Jesús Javier Gómez Mercado (born August 6, 1984) is a Venezuela
n football player who currently plays for Lierse in the Belgian Pro League. He began his career with Estudiantes de Mérida
in his native Venezuela. He later began to shine overseas, first with Raja Casablanca and then with Al-Ittihad of the Syrian Premier League
before returning to Venezuela to play with Caracas FC. In the summer of 2010 Gómez was signed by Lierse after spending two years with Caracas FC. In December 2010 he was loaned to Wadi Degla of the Egyptian Premier League
until end of the season. On June 30th 2011, he returned to Lierse. Gomez is also a member of the Venezuelan national football team.
