) is a former Norwegian
footballer
.
During his career he played for Rosenborg BK, Lillestrøm SK, Manchester City F.C.
, and Strømsgodset IF as a midfielder. He earned 23 caps for the Norway national football team
.
He made 17 appearances for Manchester City, scoring three goals, all of them in an FA Cup
match against Leicester City F.C.
on 8 January 1994.
He is currently the manager of FK Bodø/Glimt. In 2007 he coached Ranheim Fotball
and was the assistant coach of Rosenborg BK.

By the time of Rosenborg's First Division triumph of 1988, Ingebrigtsen was well established in the team, and he played in the final as they won the Norwegian Football Cup

He played in the final again as Rosenborg completed their second league and cup double in 1990, scoring the fifth goal as they destroyed Fyllingen Fotball

At the end of his final season with Rosenborg, he would play in the final for a third time as Rosenborg defeated Lillestrøm SK 3–2 to win the double for the third time during his spell with the club.
He was not fully established in the team during their 1986–87 European Cup adventure, but was fully involved by the time they returned to European football in the 1989–90 European Cup, where he played in the 5–0 drubbing by Belgian side KV Mechelen.
He played in Europe the following year as well, in the 1990–91 UEFA Cup, but Rosenborg were eliminated at the first hurdle once again, this time by Soviet side FC Chornomorets Odessa
. Despite winning 2–1 at home, they were eliminated 4–3 overall.
They returned to the European Cup for 1991–92, in his last season with Rosenborg, only to be dumped out 7–1 in the first round by eventual runners up Sampdoria

At the end of 1992, he was spotted by Manchester City
, of England, and left Rosenborg after eight seasons, 141 appearances and 16 goals.

He made all of his 17 City appearances the following season, as they slumped to 16th place in the league. Ingebrigtsen thought he had scored his first goal for the club in January 1994, against Ipswich Town

with City leading 2–0. City won the rearranged fixture 2–1, but Ingebrigtsen couldn't repeat his goalscoring heroics.
He finally did open his account for his new club less than a week later in an FA Cup Third round tie at home to Leicester City
. He added two more in the same match as the Sky Blues won 4–1. These would be his only goals for them.
At the end of the season, after failing to establish himself in the City team, he returned to Rosenborg.

. However, this wasn't enough to win the league, the only method of promotion, and they finished third. This place was taken by IL Hødd, and Ranheim's 3–2 loss away to Hødd was crucial in the season for both clubs.
Their run in the 2007 Norwegian Football Cup was less impressive. Despite a 5–0 win over non-league Kolstad in the first round, they lost 3–2 to Mo IL
in the second.
His impressive management of Ranheim led to him being poached by FK Bodø/Glimt for the following season.
He was also assistant coach at his old club Rosenborg during this period, but gave up his responsibilities there after moving to Bodø/Glimt.

As he had with Ranheim, Ingebrigtsen got off to a winning start with Bodø/Glimt, leading them to a 2–0 victory over HamKam. Brazilian striker Thiago Martins

Bodø/Glimt remained unbeaten at the Aspmyra Stadion until their penultimate game of the season there, when they succumbed 2–1 to Vålerenga, the first match Ingebrigtsen had lost at home as a manager. This impressive form allowed them to finish 4th in their first season in the division, a very impressive achievement.
Equally impressive was their run to the quarter finals of the 2008 Norwegian Football Cup, but this was also ended by Vålerenga in a 3–1 defeat. There impressive run also included a 3–0 victory over Mo IL

Thanks to a brilliant debut season, Bodø/Glimt headed into the 2009 Norwegian Premier League season with high expectations. However, things began badly and it took them four games to get a win, 1–0 over Ingebrigtsen's former club Strømsgodset IF. Wins were hard to come by all season, and taking just five points from their last eight games meant that they were 15th out of 16, beating only FK Lyn, and were relegated.
They were also unimpressive in the 2009 Norwegian Football Cup
, beating two lower league sides (including FK Mjølner, who they had also beaten the previous year) before losing to Alta IF
, who were in a lower league and had been beaten by Bodø/Glimt the year before.
Despite this dire performance, Ingebrigtsen kept his job and faced the 2010 Norwegian First Division
, which is deceptively named as it is in fact the second division. Despite losing their first match of the season 1–0 to Mjøndalen IF
, they were fairly impressive throughout the season. However, three consecutive home losses late on meant that they missed out on the play-off places by just one single point, to Ingebrigtsen's former club Ranheim.
Heartbreakingly, Bodø/Glimt were eliminated from the 2010 Norwegian Football Cup
by Ranheim, 2–1 after extra time.
Ingebrigtsen has begun his fourth season in charge of Bodø/Glimt, and they will hope for promotion from the 2011 Norwegian First Division
