Österberg Kalmari has represented Finland 126 times, with 40 goals as of November 2010. She is the all-time leading goalscorer of the national team. In 2005, Österberg Kalmari played in the finals of 2005 European Championships. Finland reached the semi-finals, which is her nations's best achievement in women's football. She also represented Finland in 2009 European Championships.

Österberg Kalmari has also won the Women's Finnish Footballer of the Year award more times than any other player. She won the award in 1999, 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2010.
