Rosenda, the oldest, heads to the doctor's office to see about an issue that has been worrying her. According to the doctor, she is expecting a child — she's positive that the father is Lauro. After, Rosenda is followed by Lauro around the plaza. She arrives home in time to inspect her sisters' cooking. Don Damian also arrives home and is waited with a typical Mexican dinner. Events become more melodramatic, Teresa falls in love with Carlos, a schoolteacher, and María Elena infatuates a Federal captain who has recently came to town. Lauro and Rosenda, are managing to keep their love a secret, amidst the Revolution.
