Leo Frederick Rayfiel was a United States Representative from New York.
, Rayfiel graduated from the New York University Law School in 1908. He was admitted to the bar in 1918 and commenced practice in Brooklyn
. He was the father of screenwriter David Rayfiel
(1923–2011). From 1939 to 1944 he was a member of the New York State Assembly
, and was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-ninth Congress. He was re–elected to the Eightieth Congress and held office from January 3, 1945 until September 13, 1947, at which point he resigned having been appointed a judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York
. Rayfield served in that capacity until his death.
Rayfiel died in Wayne, New Jersey
in 1978; interment was in Wellwood Cemetery
in Pinelawn, New York.
