Captain Leslie St. Clair Cheape (1882-1916) was an English international polo
player. He was at one stage hailed as 'England's Greatest Player', Cheape played for England in the Westchester Cup three times in 1911, 1913, and 1914. In 1914 the final had to be delayed as Cheape was hit in the face by a flying ball, suffering a broken nose.
