Liga del Sur is a local football league in Argentina

of Bahía Blanca
and the city of Punta Alta

During this period, only a combined with league players was authorized to participate in national tournaments, because the member clubs wasn´t affiliated to the AFA. In 1926, Liga del Sur won Copa Progreso, Copa Caronti and a provincial championship. Also, the league obtained the third place in a national tournament. The combined won again the provincial championship in 1929. Posteriorly, Liga del Sur divided, causing Asociación Bahiense de Fútbol (1934-1937) and Liga Sureña (1944-1946). In both situations there were two championships simultaneously. From 1908 the only time there was no champion (considered vacant) was in 1947. In 1958, The league combined played and won a match with Argentina national football team
for 4-3. In 1961, Liga del Sur won Copa Doctor Adrián Beccar Varela and participated in Campeonato Sudamericano de Clubes one year later.
In 1967, the clubs obtain the permission to participate in the Torneo Nacional. Huracán
classified in 1968. Sporting
and Rosario Puerto Belgrano played in Copa Argentina, in 1969 and 1970, respectively. Huracán
returned to First Division in 1971, followed by Comercial
(1974) and Olimpo (1984), which played a Liguilla Pre Libertadores in 1986. Argentina national football team
returned to Bahía Blanca
in 1978 and won a match (7-1) played with Liga del Sur.
Torneo Nacional disappeared in 1986. In the 90s
, a new derby
gained strength. On this match plays Olimpo and Villa Mitre
, the strongest league clubs in regional tournaments. It was played in Primera B Nacional between the years 1999-2002 and 2006-2007. Olimpo returns to First Division on three times: 2002-2006, 2007-2008 and 2010-2011. Actually, the league combined only exists in the Torneo Nacional Sub-15 de Ligas.

History
It was founded on 18 June 1908. This is the oldest local league in Argentina. But it wasn´t the first league founded on the country, because the Liga Rosarina de Fútbol existed between 1905 and 1930.
