band born in 1959 in Barcelona
at the decade of the sixties. It was initially formed by Antonio Miquel Cervero (Leslie) as vocalist, Luis Gomis on the drums, José Fontsere on the rhythm guitar
, Guillermo Rodríguez Holgado on the bass
and Manolo Madruga on the lead guitar
. They named the band The Sírex, due to Guillermo working at his father's glasses factory, in where they used a thread to adjust the frames of the glasses called Sírex. They became identified by playing a pure rock and roll with daring lyrics that caused them trouble with the Spanish censorship of that era.
. To complete his apprenticeship, they approached the University Spanish Sindicate of the street Canuda, or to the CAPSA theatre, at Aragon Street, where other groups like Estrellas Fugaces or Los Cocodrilos played. In 1960, Santi Carulla, then singer of the band Los Mustang and a classmate of Guillermo joined the formation. The first performance of Los Sirex was at the Barcelona's footballers club at Caspe street. They would be followed by concerts at the "Tropical" in Castelldefels
. This series of concerts caused Santi Carulla split from his companions by the pressure of his father so Antonio Miquel from the band Los Meteors occupied his place as lead singer and furthermore, Pepe Fontseré with the rhythm guitar.
