Lüscherz is first mentioned in 1271 as Luschiers, however the area has been settled since at least the Neolithic

Geography

Lüscherz has an area, , of 5.46 km² (2.1 sq mi). Of this area, 2.42 km² (0.934367223793935 sq mi) or 44.3% is used for agricultural purposes, while 2.5 km² (0.965255396481338 sq mi) or 45.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.42 km² (0.162162906608865 sq mi) or 7.7% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.04 km² (9.9 acre) or 0.7% is either rivers or lakes and 0.05 km² (12.4 acre) or 0.9% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 4.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.9%. 44.5% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.3% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 30.4% is used for growing crops and 7.9% is pastures, while 6.0% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams.
