. The first year of Women’s Ice Hockey was in 1997–98. Up to the end of the 2008-09 season, the program record was 136-196-37 (.419). The Black Bears last Post-Season game was March 4, 2006 (Semifinals - 2006 Hockey East Tournament, Result: New Hampshire 6, Maine 0).

Coaches

The current head coach is Dan Lichterman. He led Maine to a record of 5-23-5 in the 2008-09 season. Prior to coaching at the University of Maine, Lichterman was the assistant coach at Minnesota State-Mankato. Prior to joining Minnesota State, Lichterman developed a new five-team girl's hockey organization, the Chicago Chill. A Minnesota native, Lichterman earned two letters in hockey at the University of St. Thomas.
