congressional district
in Southern Michigan
and Southeast Michigan
. It consists of all of Clinton
, Ingham
, and Livingston
counties, and includes the southern portion of Shiawassee
and the northern portion of Oakland
counties.
The district was first created in 1873, after redistricting
following the 1870 census
.
The current congressman is Republican Mike Rogers, who has represented the district since 2001.
about half its current area of Shiawasee County and most of its area in Oakland County
while losing all the parts of Washtenaw County
and Genessee County that had been in the district.
