and until 1791 it was a small hermitage.
Until the middle of the 20th Century the major economic activity in Münchwilen was agriculture. By World War I
, many residents went to the German
city of Säckingen to go to market or to work in the factory. Since 1945, Münchwilen has had good connections with outside trade and industry, which include the train station at Stein
and the A3 motorway onramp at Eiken.
