The site was launched in 2010 by its parent company, Dice Solutions LLC. It is the sister site to another web company created by Dice Solutions, Localdogwalker.com. As of October 2010 Petsitting.com works with pet services providers across most of the major metropolitan areas around the United States and branched off into Canada in the summer of 2010.
Petsitting.com contracts with local providers of pet services in many locations throughout the United States and Canada. These pet sitters typically go to a client's home while he or she is away for the primary purpose of taking care of the client's pets, inclusive of feeding, administering any medication, walking, playing or simply accompanying the pet for an allotted period of time. Related services include doggie daycare facilities, which offer short-term pet sitting services at an outside location (similar to children's daycare) and pet boarders or pet hotels, which will take in pets for a longer term.
In addition to these services, Petsitting.com contracts with dog walking, dog training, pet grooming and pet waste removal providers.
