Po Leung Kuk Camões Tan Siu Lin Primary School was previously known as Portuguese Community Schools, Inc., Escola Camoes. It was established in the 1950s by the Portuguese Community Education and Welfare Foundation Incorporated. Since 1996, the school has been run by Po Leung Kuk. Since the school year 2000/2001, the school has become the pioneer DSS primary school in Hong Kong

. There is a multi-cultural environment for the students. Students from 18 different nationalities attend the school.

Facilities

In addition to 30 classrooms, there is a spacious multifunctional air-conditioned school hall, an activity center, a well stocked library, two music rooms and other specially-equipped rooms for visual arts, computer studies, language studies,general studies and remedial teaching. The outdoor facilities include a roofed all-weather swimming pool, two covered playgrounds, one open playground, one basketball court and a sports climbing wall (which stands at a height of 7 meters). A new annex, Tan Lam Pak Kim Music Complex, is now in service. It has twelve Study Rooms, a Parent-Teacher Association Office Room, a Visual Arts Room, a Campus TV Studio, seven Piano Rooms, a Theater,a library, two Environmental Conservation Rooms, two Orchestra Practice Rooms (one for the symphony orchestra and the other for the Chinese orchestra), a Recording Studio and a Drum Room.

Curriculum

The school offers a rich language-learning environment for children. English is the main medium of instruction, and Chinese (including Putonghua) and French are taught. Other subjects include:

--- Basic French, Basic Japanese, Basic Putonghua and Basic Cantonese

The focus is on "learning to learn" and the all-round development of children using diversified learning and teaching materials. Pupils are provided with opportunities to explore their aptitudes and potential.

A special note on the school's emphasis on Art Education - by optimizing children's exposure to original artwork at the school, curriculum development in Art Education reflects an aim to foster children's sensitivity and creativity.

The P.1 English Curriculum is tailor-made to provide children with ample exposure to English. There are continual assessments rather than conventional examinations so that pupils enjoy learning English at school.

Extracurricular activities

The school offers a variety of extracurricular activities(ECA) including:

Music: The school offers a great variety of music classes and school teams including Symphony Orchestra, Chinese Orchestra, Marching Band, School Choir and Instrumental Classes.

Sports: The school also offers numerous sporting activities such as Swimming, Cricket, Karete-do, Taekwondo, Table-tennis, Basketball, Badminton, Football, Volleyball, Athletic Training and Ballet.

Visual Arts: The school offers a wide choice of arts in order for the students to develop their creativity and to broaden their horizons by giving them a variety of arts activities. These include Handicrafts, Ceramics, Chinese Painting, Print-making and Water Colour Painting,.

Other: The school has a Campus TV, Astronomy Club, Cubs and Brownies, Poem Recitation, French Drama, Maths Games, Cookery and Chinese Dance.

Annual events

Sports Day, Open Day, Chinese Day, Christmas Party
In October, there is a special event, it is the multicultural day. On that day, students can wear their own traditional costume. Students can know more about the world through the day.

In December, there will be a Christmas Party.
In January or February, there is the Chinese Day. Students can wear traditional Chinese costume.There is also our annual sports day.
In March, we will have our open day.
In June, there comes our annual concert.
