footballer who plays for CA Osasuna
as a central defender.
's youth system, and made his first appearance for the main squad on 7 January 1996, in a 3–2 home win against UD Salamanca
. He would play three further seasons as an undisputed first-choice, with the Asturians

at the end of the 1997–98 season.
In the summer of 1999, Sergio joined Real Club Celta de Vigo
, being a somewhat important defensive figure in the Galician side's domestic and European
