Shane O'Sullivan

Shane O'Sullivan is an Irish
hurler
who plays for both the Waterford Inter-county hurling team and the Ballygunner GAA
club. O'Sullivan is brother to the former Waterford inter-county hurler, Billy O'Sullivan
.
since an early age. O'Sullivan was instrumental in guiding Ballygunner to Senior and Under-21
county titles in 2005, resulting in Ballygunner losing by a narrow margin to Newtownshandrum
in the Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship

at the age of 18. He made his debut against Tipperary
in the Munster Hurling Semi Final on 6 June 2004 and has since gone on to represent his county on numerous occasions. In January 2005 O'Sullivan suffered a serious ligament injury forcing him off the Waterford panel however O'Sullivan made very quick recovery and was playing at club level within 6 months.
O'Sullivan was a regular starter for Waterford in the 2006 All-Ireland Hurling Championship.
However as of 2008 he had not yet managed to nail down a consistent place on the waterford senior hurling team and questions have been raised about whether his pace and strength are up to inter county standards although his work rate and excellent mentality are recognized.
He was part of the Waterford side that defeated Kilkenny by two points in the National Hurling League
final in April 2007. In 2008 Shane was converted by Davy Fitzgerald
to a wing back for Waterford. He played in that position against Antrim

and Wexford
. Shane also played 35 minutes against Kilkenny
in Waterford's
first All-Ireland final for 45 years.
