New initiatives

The School motto, Quaerite Primo Regnum Dei (seek ye first the Kingdom of God) is well known to all past and current students. The word Quaerite is an important one for Shelford. Seek ye, or search, investigate, discover and find out, is what 21st century education is all about. The Pastoral Care Program and Religious Education Program from P-12 is aptly named the Quaerite Program. In this Program students are given an opportunity to investigate a variety of things related to their spiritual, emotional, social, physical and academic development.

House system

As with most Australian schools, Shelford uses a house system through which students participate in inter-house competitions. The four school houses are:
  • Langley - Yellow and Green
  • Lloyd - Purple and Yellow
  • Blundell - Red and Yellow
  • Thomas - Blue and Silver
