The Shooting Star Children's Hospice (formal name Shooting Star Trust) is a UK-based children's charity
.
The charity provides care, support and advice for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families. These care services are offered free of charge to families, 365 days a year.
Shooting Star opened in 2005 and today supports more than 250 families. The care services are based around the needs of the whole family, so as well as caring for the children and young people, there are activities and support groups for siblings, parents and other relatives.
The hospice, which is located in Hampton, London
, consists of 10 children's bedrooms and 6 family rooms. Other facilities include a hydrotherapy pool and spa, a sensory room
, a music therapy room, a family therapy room and wet and dry play areas.
It costs £3.5 million every year (£9,500 a day) to maintain the care services. With no long-term statutory funding, the majority of this comes from voluntary donations.
After seven years of capital fundraising, the construction of Shooting Star House commenced in January 2003 and took two years to complete.
Shooting Star welcomed its first family in August 2005 and the hospice was officially opened by Charles, Prince of Wales
and Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall
in February 2006..
In 2008, 95.8 Capital FM's Help a London Child charity (known as Help a Capital Child from January 2011) supported the construction of an extension at Shooting Star House - The Cosmos Therapy Zone (which, fittingly, is 95.8 square metres in size). This enables additional therapeutic services to take place such as play therapy, music therapy and relaxation therapies.

The Shooting Star Trust was founded in 1995 by Kathryn Turner MBE. (In 2007 Kathryn was awarded the Queen's Honour for her services to The Shooting Star Children's Hospice.)After seven years of capital fundraising, the construction of Shooting Star House commenced in January 2003 and took two years to complete.

Families benefit from Shooting Star’s care services in the community, in their own homes and at Shooting Star House, the purpose-built facility based in Hampton, Middlesex. These services include :- Residential short breaks
