St. Clement's School

St. Clement's School is an Anglican independent school for girls in Toronto, Canada. The school was founded in 1901 by Reverend Canon Powell, and was originally co-ed. Students at SCS are often referred to as Clementines.
The school recently completed a new addition to the building, which was funded by the Bigger Blazer Campaign, doubling the space for the students.
The school is a member of the Round Square
affiliation of schools, and offers Advanced Placement courses in many subjects, including American History, European History, Economics (Macro and Micro), Physics, Biology, Latin, French, and many others. The school also has a fabulous arts program offering visual art, music, and drama for students in the middle school and for students in the senoir school visual arts, music, drama, musical theatre, photography and film courses are offered.

Each house has at least two cheers for the cheer-offs (each house cheers as loudly as they can and the loudest house wins house points). A variety of house activities are run throughout the year such as house soccer, house basket-ball, house ping-pong and many more. House members earn house points by attending these house activities or participating in school clubs. Each student is assigned to a house upon arrival at St. Clement's. If a family member of a new student is a St. Clement's alumnae, the new student is assigned to the same house as her family member.
2011 was the first year that the house system had a consistent theme, that being Superheros, with each house being assigned a superhero. Windsor was Batman

St. Clement's is led by an elected Head Girl, Sports Captain, House Captain, and Arts Captain, Junior and Senior Prefects, House Heads, and Student Council. In addition, each member of the graduating class holds a leadership position, organizing a club or aspect of student life.

House points
Students accumulate house points for participation in academic and extracurricular activities. At the end of the year, the house with the most points wins the House Cup. The House Cup was won by Windsor in 2008, Stuart in 2009 and York in 2010. Students can also win awards for reaching certain numbers of house points, for example, Junior House Letter (150 points), Senior House Letter (300 points), the 450 Button (450 points) and the coveted Silver Spoon (600 points).House Days
Every year, there are designated days for each house (i.e. York House Day, Windsor House Day etc.). In this school wide event, everyone reveals their school/house spirit by wearing clothing in colour of the corresponding house, or dressing up as the theme of the house day. Past themes include the Magic School Bus (York), High School Musical (Tudor), and Aladdin (Windsor). There is a special assembly where the house heads usually make a movie or perform a skit. The Head Girl is the highest leadership position held at St. Clement's School, and the Head Girl is meant to be the embodiement of all the values and ideals set forth by the founders of St. Clement's School. Prefects
The Junior Prefects, grade eleven girls, are each assigned a class from grade 1–9, and act as Class Prefects, visiting and befriending the girls. The Senior Prefects, grade twelve girls, are each assigned to one of the following portfolios: Spirit, Assembly, Communications, Fundraiser and Grade Prefect. Both Senior and Junior Prefects perform humorous skits at assemblies and are ambassadors for school spirit.House Heads
House Heads lead monthly house meetings, and organize field day and a house day/assembly during which everyone dresses up in house colours. St. Clement's is known for its spirit and leadership skills.Student Council
The Student Council executive lead class presidents and vice presidents from grades 7 and up in organizing school fundraising initiatives such as the annual Citrus and Cookie Dough sale along with May Day. Each year they work to bring at least one major change to the school. This is called their big project. Past projects include developing a breakfast and snack program and making wireless internet available to students.Uniform
St. Clement's has two uniforms - a summer uniform and a winter uniform. The summer uniform consists of a navy blue skirt, navy blue knee socks, a white blouse, and a tie; however for Grades 1–3 no tie is necessary and students are allowed to wear white ankle socks. Students from grades 1–3 may also wear a skort instead of a skirt. The winter uniform consists of a navy blue tunic, a white blouse, black polishable shoes and a tie. Athletics
St. Clement's has a long-standing tradition of achievement in a variety of sports including basketball, tennis, badminton, soccer, track and field, hockey, volleyball, swim team, field hockey, cross-country, and softball. With the school's new facilities, St. Clement's has space to accommodate and expand their extensive athletic program. With two full-size gymnasiums, a fitness room, and updated locker room facilities. There are over 40 teams in 14 different sports, and girls can advance their skills and compete in their sports of choice. The recent renovation under the Bigger Blazer Campaign added a second gymnasium, a fitness centre, a dance studio, and new change rooms.Notable alumnae

St. Clement's School actively promotes student participation in the many clubs that are offered at the school. Their website states, "Our goal is to develop well-rounded individuals who enjoy all aspects of life and have the confidence to try new activities.
