St James College, Brisbane
was established in 1868 with only 12 students and is the oldest Catholic boys school in Queensland. In 1893, the Christian Brothers

In 1994, the college began to accept enrolment from females in years 8 and 11, making it a co-educational institution. 1994 also saw a change in name to St. James Prac, this was then reverted back to St. James College in 2001. In 2002 its first female principal was appointed.
As of 2009 enrolment stands at approximately 550 students. Over the next 5 years a major expansion of the school is being investigated.
