Founded in 1989 by Alison Dyer with Noreen Golfman, Peggy Norman and others, as a means of supporting and celebrating women filmmakers world wide, the festival has grown to incorporate industry film forums and workshops as well as a summer film camp for high school students (FRAMED) and a province-wide screening tour (Films On The Go).
