The goal of the Academy is to prepare young men for success in life by instilling in them a solid work ethic, an understanding of the value of integrity and teamwork, and the ability to think critically, communicate well, and function in a diverse and ever-changing world.

SJNMA is principally a boarding school for students in grades 7 to 12, but also has an active day program for young men in grades 7 to 12 and a one-year post-high school program that is conducted in partnership with the University of Wisconsin System with tailored instruction delivered at a college level. The Academy also offers several summer programs including four one-week high-energy adventure camps, a five-week Summer Ops. Program and an English as a Second Language program.
