In the village the population was spread out with 28.5% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.3 males.

The village's passage of a liquor license also lead to the recent opening of a liquor store (St. Joseph Wine and Liquor), attached to the La Luna Cafe. There are also several antique shops in St. Joseph, such as Witchhazel Antiques, The Crooked Shutter, and Winterwheat Antiques. The village is also home to Several insurance offices, three banks, a dance studio, two chiropractors, and a gym. BJ's Beauty Shop (owned and operated by mayor BJ Hackler), Sandy's Salon, and Jim's Barbershop are also in town.
