in 2004. In the music department pupils who get instrumental lessons also get the chance to play in the school swing band and orchestra.
In 2008 St. Modan's High School moved to a new site as part of Stirling Councils £10 million Public Private Partnership regeneration of schools. The new site was originally planned for a field adjacent to Bannockburn High School however due to Historic Scotland objections the new site was announced as being in Springkerse Retail Park in Stirling

Hotel. This effectively meant that all children now have to be "bussed" to the new school. The school is also next door to Forthbank Stadium

The school day has also changed implementing an experimental "Period 7" (As opposed to the usual 6 in Scottish high schools). All pupils S1-4 participate in a range of timetabled creative and physical activities in art, sport and music. These are optional to S5/6. Pupils choose their Period 7 options from a long list of exciting options such as gardening and cookery.
This Period 7 was operated under the School of Ambition programme, promoted and financed by the Scottish Government. It operated on one day a week and was compulsory for S1 to S4. The programme in its current format is coming to an end in the June 2011 and will be rebranded then incorporated into the main school day for all year groups in 2011/12.
The school moved to the premises by the start of the 2008/2009 school term.
The Headteacher of the school from 1997, Frank Lennon OBE, moved to Dunblane High School in June 2010 along with Depute Headteacher, Margo Wilkinson. In February 2011 it was announced that they would not be returning to St. Modan's, but would be remaining at Dunblane
. The newly appointed Headteacher is Mr Raymond O'Neill.
In a recent inspection by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) St Modan's was shown to be an exceptional school and was awarded an 'Excellent' rating (Sector leading)for both the Curriculum and Meeting Learner's Needs and Very Good ratings for all other aspects of delivery. It states here "In almost all key measures of attainment, results are consistently better than they are in schools which serve young people with similar needs and backgrounds." and also "Young people’s behaviour is exemplary and they show care and concern for each other"
