The school is owned by the Hebrew Academy of Long Beach
which purchased the former Lawrence Country Day School 9.2 acres (37,231.1 m²) campus in 1992 for $2.2001 million. It aims for academic excellence both in the Jewish Limudei Kodesh (Torah studies) curriculum and in secular non-Jewish studies. The school is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents (not the Montana State Board of Regents as has been alleged) and has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
since 1999. It was renamed for longtime resident Stella K. Abraham in 1994.
