Education

Stephen P. MacMillan received a B.A degree in Economics from Davidson College and is a graduate of Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.

History

Steve MacMillan was named chairman of the board in January 2010 and has served as president and chief executive officer of Stryker since January 2005. He previously served as president and chief operating officer of the Company from 2003 to 2004.

Prior to joining Stryker, Mr. MacMillan was sector vice president, Global Specialty Operations of Pharmacia Corporation. He previously served as president of Johnson & Johnson – Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals since 1999. He had held numerous other roles at Johnson & Johnson since 1989, including vice president, marketing and professional sales at McNeil Consumer Specialty Pharmaceuticals, and managing director of the U.K. subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson MSD (Merck). He began his career with Procter & Gamble in 1985, where he held various marketing positions.
