The settlement was first mentioned in 1319, when Margrave Waldemar of Ascania
had conquered Sulechów for Brandenburg
. Waldemar however died in the same year, and the locality fell back to the Piast
duchy of Głogów.
In 1482 Duke Jan II the Mad
finally had to cede Sulechów together with the neighbouring town of Krosno
to Brandenburg under Elector Albert III Achilles. A part of the Neumark
district since 1537, Züllichau from 1815 belonged to the Prussian
province of Brandenburg
. In 1945 it fell to Poland with the implementation of the Oder-Neisse line
according to the Potsdam Agreement
