He graduated from Nişantaşı Anatolian High School and then dropped out of Mimar Sinan University, where he had been studying of architecture
. He has worked as an editor, redactor and translator at publishing houses and as a member of magazine publishing committees. His first story "Susmana Gerek Var ve Oturmana" ("You Need to Shut Up and Sit Down") was published in Varlık in 1991. In the following years his stories, poems and articles were published in the reviews Varlık, Sombahar, Şizofrengi, Evrensel Kültür, İnsancıl and Öküz.
In 1991 he won the Short Story Achievement Award in the Varlık Review’s 1000th Issue Youth Awards.
In addition, he has translated from English.
