Geography

Thürnen has an area, , of 2.25 square kilometre (0.868729856833204 sq mi). Of this area, 1.28 km² (0.494210762998445 sq mi) or 56.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.57 km² (0.220078230397745 sq mi) or 25.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.42 km² (0.162162906608865 sq mi) or 18.7% is settled (buildings or roads).

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 11.1% and transportation infrastructure made up 5.3%. Out of the forested land, 22.7% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.7% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 16.4% is used for growing crops and 28.0% is pastures, while 12.4% is used for orchards or vine crops.

 is Or, a two-arched towered Bridge Sable and Coupeaux Vert. The design was created in 1944. The castle in the coat of arms came from an oral tradition that held that the name Thürnen meant "at the towers". The colors come from the Homburg region, which once contained the municipality.
