Torsvåg is a hamlet
at 70 degrees latitude at the far north-west of the island Vanna
in Karlsøy
municipality. The nearest city is Tromsø
about 90 kilometers south of Torsvåg. The fishing village Torsvåg has existed for many hundred years. Today the breakwaters at both sides of the islet of Kåja form a snug port at the threshold of the big seas. At Kåja the Vanna fish processing plant, «Torsvågbruket», is localised and at the top of Koja the Torsvåg Lighthouse is localised. Today Torsvåg only has between 10 and 20 inhabitants, but throughout history many a person has set their foot in this fishing village.
