. The total prize money from 2006 to 2010 was US$100,000. This international bicycle event has attracted teams from Indonesia as well as abroad, especially Asian teams, such as from Iran, Japan, Philippines and Malaysia.

The main sponsor from 2003 to 2006 was Dji Sam Soe, a cigarette brand of the Sampoerna group. In 2007 Tour d'Indonesia was cancelled due to lack of funding and failure to attract a sponsor. In 2008 the tour was held again sponsored by Speedy
