Background
In 2005, Cristian Castro and José José made a special appearance on Don Francisco Presenta. During the interview, Castro regarded José José as his musical godfather and sung parts of "La Nave del olvido". Castro stated that "La Nave del Olvido" inspired him to become a singer. In 2008, Castro was one of the selected artists to perform at Latin Grammy Award tribute to Jose Jose. The title of the album is a reference to José José's alias, "El Principe de la Cancion" (The Prince of Song).Recording and production
