Summary

The staff of Seattle Grace cope with the aftermath of the shooting from last season.
The episode starts with Meredith in a consultation with a new counselor, Dr. Perkins, who refuses to clear her for surgery.
On his first day back, Derek quits the Chief position and gives it back to Richard. He takes a new patient. He has to cut this patient's face in two to remove a large brain tumour. With the help of Mark and Callie, he pulls it off.
Cristina lives her days in the hospital planning her wedding after Owen's proposal. Flashbacks bring back the most dramatic moments from all of the doctors after the shooting. In an appointment with Dr. Perkins she refuses help, saying that she just wants to be "a simple girl" because "no one puts a gun to a simple girl's head"

Meredith tries to stop Derek, who has been speeding. She struggles while refusing to tell him about the miscarriage. She and Cristina argue
about the secret and the rushed marriage. Cristina asks for her approval.
Teddy reanimates her friendship with Owen, but now she's dating Perkins. Arizona then tells her that Callie is acting strange, and she is afraid that she wants kids right now. Teddy tells her to "pop the bubble" and leaves.
Mark confronts Perkins after he clears Lexie, who recently had a mental breakdown and was admitted to Psych. Perkins tells him that Lexie has had treatment, and she's fine now. Lexie listens and defends herself.

Alex refuses to take the bullet, that has travelled to the surface of his chest, out.
Bailey struggles with the consequences of the shooting, and the fact that Ben wasn't there for her. In the end, she dumps him because he is fine, while she's too busy with "the tape and the glue" pointing out that she's broken. It's the night of Christina and Owen's wedding. Derek is arrested again for speeding on the way over there. Meredith comes to retrieve the wedding ring, which he has because he is best man, and leaves him in jail.
When she arrives home, where the wedding takes place, Owen is slightly freaked out that Derek isn't there and Christina might not be coming down. But when Meredith goes up to see her, they both smile. Christina asks Meredith to give her her blessing and she does so. They get married, with the whole gang watching, with all their own mixed feelings. Callie, a little drunk, asks Arizona to move in with her. Arizona is relieved it's 'just' moving in together, and agrees.
