World's Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support
's flagship fundraising event. Each year, members of the general public host their own coffee morning, which primarily take place within the UK where the charity operates, although events are held worldwide. The donations received go towards Macmillan services.
Over the years, the coffee mornings have diversified into many different fundraising events, from pub quizzes to garden parties. These include world record attempts for the highest coffee morning (on a jet fighter in 2004), the most distant coffee morning (Antarctica in 2002) and the world’s deepest coffee morning (down Poldark Mine, Cornwall in 2002).
Macmillan holds the Guinness World Record for the Largest Simultaneous Coffee Party.

History
The first coffee morning was held in 1990, when a local fundraising committee held a coffee morning where the cost of the coffee was donated to Macmillan. The first nationwide coffee morning took place in 1991, with 2,600 people registering to host one. Each year, more and more people have registered, and in 2010, 43,000 hosts raised over £8 million. Since its inception, the World's Biggest Coffee Morning has raised over £60 million.Over the years, the coffee mornings have diversified into many different fundraising events, from pub quizzes to garden parties. These include world record attempts for the highest coffee morning (on a jet fighter in 2004), the most distant coffee morning (Antarctica in 2002) and the world’s deepest coffee morning (down Poldark Mine, Cornwall in 2002).
