It starts out and you think, "Okay, here's another woman crying about something," and then it swings around and it says he finds her ring on the pillow and he starts to think, "Hey, you didn't know who I was either. There's been a lot of men that this song just tears up."

This was the last 45 vinyl single of Patty Loveless music released by Sony/Epic. Of the four single releases from this album, only the first three were released on vinyl, and those only on a limited production run for retail sales. Also, the "When Fallen Angels Fly" album was the last album released on vinyl. Sony/Epic continues however, to produce vinyl records for special projects. The compact disc, introduced to consumers in 1983, had finally replaced the vinyl record after decades as the primary media for recorded music sales.

According to Loveless: "... When I look back on this particular song, I recall one time this little girl came up to me, and she said, "... you know, the question I have is, ah, if you left the key in the door, and you left the car, then how did you get to your mother's house?" (laughing).. So lyrically, it was an interesting, a very interesting perspective on her part! It's funny to think that people really do pay attention to the words.It's one of my favorites too.
