In 1995, Simply Red
sampled "Give It Up" for their UK #1 hit "Fairground
". The Goodmen were credited for the sample, and Mendes was also given credit as the performer of "Fanfarra", the original source of the Goodmen's track.
After "Give It Up" the duo had big success with a number of other tracks under different monikers, such as Tomba Vira, Basco, René Et Gaston, Jark Prongo, Fresh Tunes and Klatsch. In 2001, they returned to the US dance chart under the artist names of Chocolate Puma (with which they had a UK #6 hit with "I Wanna Be U"), Rhythmkillaz, Riva, and Tomba Vira.
