He was born in the british owned town of Lefkoşa in 12 April 1939. He died in 12 January 2010. He was married to Güray Türkmen (born 28 August 1937, still living). He was the father of Özay Beha (born 2 March 1968, still living), and Vahide Uzunoğlu (born 6 March 1964, still iving). He is the grandfather of Özer Beha (born 12 November 1996, still living), and Özlem Beha (born 20 May 2002, still living).
