WHAT AN EDUCATOR MUST BE

I am proud to be a graduate of this prestigious university. That is why I enrolled by children in the same university.

But I was disappointed about complains that I hear from my children regarding the attitude of a chemistry instructor to her students. It so happened that my children encountered that instructor in the same subject. She treats her students as if they are her enemies. She talks with her students with firing lines. Students can not understand her lesson. She doesn't know how to teach. Maybe she is a graduate of a course other than teacher education (with no education units taken). But, this is not an excuse if one is hired TO TEACH our children. It seems she is enjoying if many if not all are failing or getting low grades. SHE PUNISHES her students by making it hard to cope with the subject. Not really to teach them. She is anguish and proud. I do not know her background_ what made up her personality. She does not know what must be her goals and objectives as an educator (suppose to be). And I am sure she is failing if ever SLU is conducting Student Evaluation of Instructors.

I think it is imperative on the part of an educator to find ways on how she or he can be a REAL TEACHER to students. She must set her goals and have the right attitude to become effective in imparting knowledge, skills and VALUES to students. That chemistry teacher must understand her role of being one of SLU educators who are molding our children.

Saint Louis University is one of the top universities in the Philippines. I think it will still improve if the instructors are REAL EDUCATORS.

After I finished my studies in SLU, I went to University of the Philippines for further studies. I experience how hard it is to pass because of the volume of topics out professor wanted us to learn. But, I feel comfortable and motivated. EDUCATORS OF UP ARE REAL TEACHERS, which is the reason why it is number 1.

I hope it is not possible for SLU to get to higher rank, if it will improve its teaching performance.
