Gatsby has large partys because
- he wants attention.
- he doesnt have friends
- to enjoy his richs
- to be mysterious
- to make people like him

Not exactly..
He throws the big fancy parties because he wants to impress Daisy, not any of the others.

He does want attention, but only from one specific person. He wasnt to attract Daisy. &To show her, that he is rich enough for her, that he can left her show off, he only wants her.

He doesn't have friends, but he doesn't throw the parties to get friends.

He doesn't want to enjoy "his richs". When he has the parties he is hardly at them.

He doesn't care to be mysterious, and he doesn't care if people like him. If Daisy likes him, that's all he cares about.
