The 1101 Brickell Building is a planned condominium and office tower skyscraper
in downtown
Miami, Florida
. It was originally approved by the City of Miami and the Federal Aviation Administration
in 2006. The building was to contain 270000 feet (82,296 m) of office space, 30000 square feet (2,787.1 m²) of retail as well as 650 residences. It's proposed height was to be about 259 meters (848 feet) with 74 floors. Two buildings already exist at 1101 Brickell Avenue
as part of an office complex known as 1101 Brickell Avenue. The North Tower is 19 floors while the South Tower is 11. Construction of the skyscraper would require demolition of the South Tower, which was sold in May 2005 for $70,000,000. The original proposal was put on hold during the recession, but has been revived in 2011 as 724 unit residential building, with developer Tibor Hollo stating that it is one of his next projects, along with One Bayfront Plaza
. The complex is large for downtown at 3.2 acres, spanning from Brickell Avenue
to Brickell Bay Drive.
