, Sarah Tyler (Isabella Calthorpe
) is driving along a winding road at night, returning to her home in England
. When there, she greets her stepfather, who is working through paperworks, and tells him to rest while she takes care of her brothers, who are at the barn fixing a jeep. A storm is brewing outside as she arrives, to find her brothers are having a party with their friends, in the barn, among which are Stephen Moore (Peter Gadiot) and his girlfriend Emily (Gemma Atkinson
), Charlie Moore (Gabriel Thomson
), Gary Ashby (Tom Felton
), and Doug Walker (Joshua Bowman). Also in the barn is their youngest brother Luke Moore (Anthony de Liseo) asleep amongst the hay together with their dog Stoner. Sarah wakens Luke, who tells her that their parents were fighting over bills and their mother's supposed love affair. She joins the party and inquires about this, and Stephen tells her that her stepfather has accused her mother of having an affair with a man whom she is paying large sums of money, to Sarah's disbelief.
Back at the house, the storm causes a power outage. The group notice blood dripping at the top of the stairs. Gary leaves the group to look for candles in the kitchen; meanwhile the group finds that the blood marks come from their father's room. In the room they find his lifeless body, which appears to have been attacked by some wild animal. At the same time, Gary drops the candles, and while retrieving them he discovers Stoner's collar and his bloody remains.
The group upstairs encounter a beast-like creature and narrowly escape. When Gary calls to them, it catches and kills him in the same manner as its other victims, before trying again to get through the door the others are hiding behind. The group flees to their father's bathroom and Sarah discovers a passageway leading up to the attic. Momentarily safe in the attic, the group contemplate their situation. Sarah's phone is in her bag downstairs, and Stephen's is dead, but there is a phone in their father's room. Emily sees a pathway leading to an opening in another room, and the group decides that Sarah shall go down that pathway and distract the beast while Charlie goes to call for help on their father's phone.
While Sarah distracts the monster, Charlie contacts the police, mentioning that a wild animal is loose in their house. However, the beast then goes after him, and kills and eats him. When Sarah witnesses this, it resumes pursuing her, and manages to bite her leg before she gets back up to the attic.
On the other side of town, McRae is picked up by police officer May, on the way to investigate Charlie's call. McRae is a trained dog catcher, enlisted by the police department to help in resolving the situation, although May suspects the call is a hoax.
Back in the attic, as Doug tends to Sarah's leg, Stephen and Emily discover another passageway into a room containing a shotgun. Sarah and Doug warn them that the beast is lurking outside the room, and Emily and Stephen manage to block after a struggle. While Emily is looking for shotgun cartridges, Stephen leaves her and crawls back up to the attic. Armed with a stake, Sarah makes her way down and injures the beast before it attacks Emily. She attempts to kill the beast with the gun, but accidentally shoots herself, fatally.
Meanwhile, McRae and May find an abandoned car in the middle of the road, and upon discovering a handbag left in there, that the car has broken down, and the driver has not returned after seeking help, conclude that Charlie's call might not have been a hoax.
Luke wakes up and goes back to the house, unaware of what's happening. He finds Gary's body and is soon pursued by the beast. After falling through the ceiling, Sarah takes Luke and all of the remaining survivors to the roof. McRae and May arrive but are both slain by the beast. Sarah reaches their vehicle and takes the handbag, which she realizes is her mother's. At the barn, Stephen is trying to fix the Jeep, which it is revealed that he tampered with to prevent their mother from seeing her lover. Sarah blames Stephen for the possible death of her mother, and they get into a fight. He then runs out of the barn and is attacked by the beast, while Sarah begins to transform into one as well. Luke and Doug return to the house and hide from the beast under a table. A beast-like Sarah attacks and fights with the other beast just as it is about to kill them. Doug, trying to shoot at the beast, is killed by Sarah; Luke meanwhile runs back to the car. In the morning Sarah is human again, and it is revealed that the other beast is their mother. Sarah and Luke leave to go somewhere safe, while it is revealed that Gary is still alive.
