Gloucestershire CCC played its initial first-class match v. Surrey at Durdham Downs, near Bristol, on 2, 3 & 4 June.

27, 28 June. "Cobden's Match".

4 November. Formation of Derbyshire CCC at a meeting in the Guildhall, Derby.
