was able to get through the England defence. (In 1901, McMahon was one of two players to put four goals past Ireland in a 11–0 victory for the Scots.) England equalized through Jack Reynolds with five minutes remaining and managed to hold on for a 2–2 draw.
The result meant that Scotland won the British Home Championship for the fifth time outright – plus two shared with England.
