 interstate competition. It was the first carnival to be hosted by the Tasmanian city of Hobart and was won by the Victorian Football League team.

With the weaker footballing states in Queensland and New South Wales being grouped together with the likes of the VFL, there were many one sided affairs. Western Australia managed to kick no less than 43 goals in one match against the Queenslanders, 23 of them from full-forward Bonny Campbell

In the end the Championship was decided by a match between the two strongest sides, the VFL and Western Australia. The game was played in front of 15,687 people at North Hobart Oval and Campbell again starred with seven goals but it wasn't enough to get Western Australia over the line.
