- The first step of elections to the Basic Democrat units are held in both wings of the country. The elected members form an Electoral College to elect the members of the provincial and national assemblies.
February
- 14 February, a referendum is held to elect the president. Ayub Khan, being the only candidate, received 95.6 per cent of the votes cast.
- 17 February, Ayub Khan was sworn in as the elected president.
