champion Detroit Pistons

four games to one. Isiah Thomas
of the Pistons was awarded the title of NBA Finals MVP.
It was the first trip to the NBA Finals for the Portland Trail Blazers since their stunning championship win of 1977

The Chicago Bulls
would go on to lose 93-74 in Detroit in game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, making it the 3rd consecutive year the Bulls were ousted in the postseason by the Pistons.
