The 1996 First-Year Player Draft, Major League Baseball
's annual amateur draft of high school and college baseball players, was held on June 4 and 5, 1996. A total of 1739 players were drafted over the course of 100 rounds.

(59th round, 1586th overall) were also selected during this draft, but did not sign with the teams that selected them. González, Hendrickson, and Hudson were subsequently drafted for the last time in 1997, Pierre in 1998, and Harang, Capuano, Jennings, and Zito in 1999.
