. With the victory, Woods broke Jack Nicklaus
's record of being the youngest golfer ever to win all four of golf's major championships. Woods became the fifth player to complete the feat. In doing so, he also achieved the lowest 72-hole score in relation to par of -19, which is a record for all major championships.
It was the first Open Championship to be telecast in high-definition television
in any country, being telecast in the United States
by ABC Sports that year.
